Why Our PDF Splitter Works Better

Pick the pages you want and download them as a new PDF.

See What You're Getting

Every page shows up as a thumbnail. Click the pages you want, and you can see exactly what you are extracting.

Pick Any Combination

Select page 2, page 15 and pages 20-25 in one pass. The pages keep their original order in the new file.

Nothing Gets Messed Up

Text stays crisp, images stay sharp, links keep working. We extract pages exactly as they are. Your content doesn't get mangled in the process.

Done in Seconds

Even big PDFs split fast. Upload, select, extract - the whole thing takes maybe 30 seconds. Most of that is you deciding which pages to keep.

Use It Anywhere

Works in the browser on laptop, phone and tablet. Nothing to install.

Your Files Stay Private

We encrypt your PDF when you upload it. Process it on secure servers. Delete it within 1 hour. We do not read your documents.

What actually happens when you split

How page ranges, bookmarks and metadata are handled.

Splitting by page range vs. every page

You can extract a specific range — like pages 5-12 into one file — or split every page into its own separate PDF. Ranges are useful for pulling out a chapter or section; splitting every page suits scanned documents you need to re-file individually.

What happens to bookmarks when you split

Bookmarks that point inside the extracted range carry over into the new file; bookmarks pointing to pages outside the range are simply dropped, since there's nothing left for them to point to. Document-level metadata like title and author copies over to every split file.

Splitting a scanned PDF

Splitting works identically on scanned and digitally created PDFs — a scanned page is still just a page from the tool's perspective. The only difference is that scanned pages remain image-only, not searchable, in the resulting files unless you run OCR.

Extracting one page vs. a range

Pulling a single page — like page 3 for a signature request — and extracting a multi-page range use the same selection interface. You just pick a start and end that are the same page for a single extraction; there's no separate "single page" mode.

Does splitting make files smaller?

Each split file is roughly proportional to its share of the original — a 10-page split from a 100-page, 10MB PDF comes out around 1MB, not 10MB. You end up with several smaller files whose sizes sum close to, sometimes slightly more than, the original.

Splitting vs. deleting pages — which one do you need?

Splitting keeps everything — every page ends up somewhere across the output files. If you just want to remove a few pages and keep one file, that's a different job: split, keep the parts you need, and discard the rest.

Common Questions

Quick answers on limits, privacy and results.

When You Need to Split a PDF

Sometimes you don't need the whole document. Maybe it's a 50-page contract and you only need the signature page. Or a textbook where you want just one chapter. Or a report where only certain sections matter to you. That's when splitting comes in handy.

This tool runs in your browser, so there is no program to download. Upload your PDF, pick your pages, and download the new file. The free plan covers files up to 10MB.

Works for Every Type of Document

Contracts, invoices, presentations, research papers, ebooks, forms - whatever you've got in PDF format, we can split it. The content doesn't matter. As long as it's a PDF under 10MB on the free plan, you're good to go. And if you're over that limit, just compress it first with our PDF compressor tool.
