Text boxes vs. truly editable text
Each PDF page becomes a slide, and text is placed into editable text boxes positioned to match the original layout. You can click in and edit the words, but complex text effects or precise kerning from the PDF may not translate perfectly into PowerPoint's text engine.
Fonts in the converted presentation
If the PDF's fonts are common system fonts, they carry over directly. Less common or embedded custom fonts get substituted with the closest match available in PowerPoint, which can shift text box sizing slightly — review the first few slides after conversion.
Images and graphics — how they convert
Images, charts, and diagrams convert as image objects at their original resolution and position. They're not converted back into editable PowerPoint chart objects even if they started as charts — they arrive as flat pictures you can move and resize but not edit as data.
Multi-column PDF pages in PowerPoint
A PDF page isn't a Word document, so PowerPoint has no native multi-column text concept — a multi-column PDF page converts as separate text boxes positioned where each column originally sat, preserving the visual layout rather than becoming a flowing column format.
Speaker notes after conversion
A PDF has no equivalent of PowerPoint's speaker notes field, so converted slides start with empty notes. If the original presentation had notes before it became a PDF, they're not recoverable from the PDF alone — you'd need the original .pptx.
