What actually happens when you convert to PDF
The details that matter once you go beyond the basics.
Animations and transitions — what happens to them
A PDF is a static document, so animations and slide transitions don't carry over — each slide converts to its final, fully-revealed state, as if every animation had already played. If a slide relies on a build sequence to make sense, review it after conversion.
Speaker notes — included or not?
By default, the PDF contains only what's visible on the slide itself, not your speaker notes underneath. If you need notes included, most presentation software has a specific \"print with notes\" layout option to select before exporting or printing to PDF.
Embedded videos and audio
Video and audio files embedded in a slide can't play inside a PDF, since PDF isn't a media format. They convert to a static preview image, a thumbnail frame of the video, rather than a playable clip.
Slide size and aspect ratio
Whatever aspect ratio your presentation uses, whether 4:3, 16:9, or a custom size, the PDF pages match it exactly. Each page is sized to one slide, so widescreen presentations produce widescreen-shaped PDF pages, not standard portrait pages with slides shrunk to fit.
Fonts not installed on our servers
If your presentation uses a font that isn't embedded in the file and isn't available on our conversion servers, it's substituted with the closest match, which can shift text positioning slightly. Embedding fonts in your presentation before converting avoids this entirely.
One slide per page, always
Each slide becomes exactly one PDF page, in the order they appear in your presentation. There's no option to combine multiple slides per page, like a handout layout, with this converter — that's a distinct layout you'd set up in the presentation software's own export settings.
